The midway museum, sideshow and spookhouse, weird history, medicine shows... There's no dark ride here, there is no midnight movie house, or elaborate minature golf course full of bizarre obstacles, no dusty rooms of oddities, folklore and headscratching curios... but I can bring you just a little of the news. So that is the idea... The show started as a mix of dark and odd music spanning everything from Experimental Noise to Black Metal to Cabaret to Country and the generally unclassifiable. The music will continue to be part of the show for as long as I can see. To this mix I intend to bring tales of the paranormal, weird happenings, unexpected history, folklore, the esoteric, medical quackery, and anything mysterious really that strikes my fancy. The content will be handled with a sliding scale of seriousness depending on how I feel about a given subject. I am not a disbeliever, but I have yet to be convinced of many of the things that tickle my curiosity. My hope is that people who listen will come forward with their own experiences that I can share on the show or through their own words on the site, artwork would be welcome if it pertains to the ideas presented here. I will post often to the blog, and will turn out podcasts as often as I can.
The name Gruntsplatter comes from a music project that I have done since about 1994 that has had releases on such labels as Crowd Control Activities, Desolation House/Relapse Records, Eibon Recordings and Dark Vinyl Records among others. I have collaborated with a few people as well under different monikers, and all of this music has touched on some of my obscure interests. In addition I have run a Dark Experimental record label called Crionic Mind since 1995 that is currently in a state of cryogenic stasis as far as releases, but the mail order catalog remains open. I've also co-edited Worm Gear Extreme Music magazine since 1995, and more recently helped with rising Black/Doom Metal label Bindrune Recordings. Aside from that have done sa fair amount of graphic design for projects in the underground under the heading Crionic Media. The Spookatorium is the answer to the question "what would I do if a great sack of money fell in my lap or I happened to win the lottery?" I don't play the lottery, and if a sack of money fell into anyones lap, I'd probably do a story on it here because it would be so unusual. The idea of a roadside Museum of Curiosity somewhere out in the woods has always appealed to me. The Spookatorium is my nod to that... 
I've been interested in ghosts and creatures and weirdness, for as long as I can remember. I don't know why or if there was a trigger that set me squinting into the fog, and I'm not sure it matters. I have no expertise beyond a lifetime of curiosity and personal inquiry and I claim none. I have had a few experiences that I don't fully understand but I don't feel like I am a magnet for such things or have any special insight as it would relate to the topics I intend to cover. I seek only to share my fascination and comment on both the incredible and ridiculous nature of what I dig up.
